“"We are excited about this weekend's challenges," head coach Manuel Diaz said. "Our team is healthier than we have been in weeks, and the guys are hungry and ready to get back on the courts."”

ATHENS, Ga. – After an eight-match home stay, the 14th-ranked University of Georgia men's tennis team will travel to Gainesville, Fla., and Columbia, S.C., this weekend for a pair of top-20 matchups. First, Georgia will face No. 10 Florida Friday at 5 p.m. before taking on the 16th-ranked Gamecocks Sunday at 1 p.m.

While all three teams competed against one another during the fall campaign, the weekend's matches will mark the first time either team has faced off in dual competition since the 2019 season— the Bulldogs were set to compete against both Florida and South Carolina the week the season was canceled due to COVID-19.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 5-2 win over No. 22 Mississippi State which lifted Georgia's record to 6-2 overall, 1-2 in SEC play. The Gators enter Friday's match 8-1 on the season, including a 4-0 SEC mark, while South Carolina is 7-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

Georgia is led in singles by graduate transfer Billy Rowe who boasts a 6-1 record in dual competition. Rowe's most recent singles victory – a 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) win over Mississippi State's Alberto Colas – clinched Georgia's 5-2 win over the No. 22 MSU Bulldogs last Sunday.

Sophomore Erik Grevelius is also proving to be a key player to the Bulldogs' lineup. The Sweden native went a combined 4-0 last weekend, winning both doubles matches, alongside teammate Baptiste Anselmo, and both singles matches against Ole Miss and Mississippi State opponents. In doubles, he and junior Philip Henninghave tallied a team-best 4-0 record for the dual-match season.
